Dieting Myths

Dieting Myths
Diet facts are at times misrepresented in a variety of ways in order to draw in people to a service or latest product. Knowing exactly what to expect out of it is extremely important to identifying reality from fiction. People who would like to slim down are hampered with lots of details to interpret. Becoming hands-on will be the solution to deciding on what's right for these individuals.

Just how many diets have individuals come across that present themselves as the easiest method to lose weight? This might be due to good marketing on their part, but they cause you to feel as though you won't be able to slim down any other route. Whether it's a strict weight loss plan, new training equipment or fat burning pill, the takeaway might trick an individual into believing you don't have any choice. This is definitely false advertisement.

Some diet plans are usually shams while others do the trick in their own manner. Do analysis with regards to that which you feel suits you. Some weight loss programs point out that dropping pounds isn't likely unless you are on their specific system. They will say their methods involve some remarkable solution or technique that causes quick results. The truth is, the body won't be able to distinguish between "product A" and "product B." It allows you to lose weight provided that you commit yourself to a lifestyle adjustment. Weight loss ought not to be viewed as an spontaneous decision. It takes time along with dedication for change to take place. Results appear over time and are not as fast as we'd like to expect.

A number of diets falsely say that exercise is your adversary. It is seen as a negative factor when it comes to losing inches off your waist. There'll be talk of "stop spending your time at the gym" and "no exercise is necessary." Apparently, this kind of chatter is what makes these kinds of diet plans appealing. Its no secret that many people are very busy and find it difficult to exercises due to a lack of time. On the other hand, there are those people don't lead an active lifestyle simply do to laziness.

Working out can actually speed up losing weight and bring about other benefits. It can alleviate fatigue as well as boost organ function. Working out is not necessarily a daily requirement. For optimal weight reduction as well as maintaining good health, every other day is ideal. Half an hour per workout session is all you need. An additional benefit associated with working out is that it helps tone your figure after you have eliminated lots of fat. More importantly, after significant weight loss, the body will remain in top shape. It also allow you to target your mid-section, thighs, torso and also arms.

A number of people feel that following a diet may be a short-term undertaking that they can stop as soon as they lose weight. The results of holding this mindset will lead you to failure. It takes patience to lose weight and it isn't like packing on the pounds. When after you've lost a substantial amount of excess weight you go back to lousy practices, you will see the effects shortly.

As an alternative, you need to focus on regulating your food choices as well as making your health your top priority. Although you may have reached your weight loss goals, don't forget good eating habits that you have acquired along the way. Over the long haul, should you have chosen to burn fat by way of nutrition and fitness, you will be able to reap the benefits many times over.

Are You Afraid of Dieting?

You might be afraid of dieting - even the word scares most of us. Why? Because we feel we will fail. You may not know this but 90% - 95% of Women's Self Esteem is based on their body image. Surprising? Based on my nearly 20 years in practice I have seen, felt and heard the pain surrounding how we women feel about our bodies. It can be heartbreaking and yet so real. It affects everything in our lives. We care too much or we don't care enough. I am not a big advocate for dieting, in general, because most diets are designed to fail and they do not take into account hormonal imbalance, improper sleep habits, stress and emotional eating patterns and physiological effects. But most importantly they don't take into account the crucial thing - one crucial thing - our thoughts.
Most of us want the Perfect Body. So we decide to go on a diet and exercise. We essentially DO a Diet for a few weeks and then give up. Do you want to know the Real Secret to Weight Loss? You actually need to Become The Person who has a Perfect Body even before you have it otherwise your efforts will only be temporary...
You must change your thoughts in order to have what you want. It's really not the diet that counts it's who you have to be to follow the diet. Millions look for the right diet and then focus on what they have to do rather than who they have to be. Total new concept for most of us I know. A diet will not help you if you don't change your thoughts. That's where the real work begins. It's an inside job.
As I have been sharing with many of you lately "Your real work starts only after you lose your desired weight." Usually we can lose weight - the real miracle, however, is in keeping it off. But even before the weight comes off you have to be ready to change on the inside. When thinking of changing your eating, improving your health and deciding to "diet" you may want to ask some questions.
6 Revealing Questions You can Ask Yourself before Embarking on a "Diet":
1) Are you more committed to staying the same or to changing? This is a tough one because you say you want to change - but do you really? Are you willing to do what it takes - to stick to it no matter what? Or will you be led astray the first time you are tempted with the chocolate cake or chips and salsa? Sometimes it's not the actual food but the addictive patterns that seem to develop after you take that first bite.
2) Does the pain of having more weight feel normal to you? I find sometimes we are very committed to our story - even though you say you don't want to have the weight you presently have and feeling uncomfortable with the extra 10 + lbs. After all what would you have to complain about or beat yourself up about? I know this is perhaps harsh - these are the deeper questions you need to ask yourself. When you lose weight, as is often the case, you start seeing your life differently and the things that appeared "fine" may not be so fine and they require some changes to be made. Yet when one thing changes expect other parts of your life to change - and not too worry it could be for the better and hopefully it is for the better.
3) Are you ready to make a change in your life? Change can be frightening. We get so comfortable in our discomfort that we can't imagine anything different and better. We tolerate things when we needn't tolerate them. It's a big decision to actually start eating healthy and not relying on whatever happens to be in the fridge, grocery store or drive- through. We go to dinner and feel we must have everything on our plate and oh we must have that divine bread in that heavenly basket which is calling our name. Why would we want to give this up? It's entertainment, social and rewarding. I can't live without eating whatever I want you might say to yourself. But what is the price? When you stand in front of the mirror feeling hopeless when absolutely have NOTHING fits you - are you ready to make a change then?
4) Are you letting distractions sabotage your efforts? Everything else takes priority - after all who am I you might ask? Tommy baseball game is more important than my silly diet - right? This work project needs to get done - after all it's my job and it's more important than getting to the store and stocking my kitchen with healthy foods. Oh, I'm having guests over this week and they'll want to go out to dinner every night - I'll just eat what they eat and not make a fuss. These are only a few examples of how sabotaging your efforts can de-rail you on an ongoing basis. There will always be something that comes up - always.
5) Are you wanting to lose weight for you or for someone else? Does someone in your life let you know they aren't happy about your present body shape? They may not come out and say it (although some blatantly do) but you may hear some subtle and even hurtful clues and comments. The proverbial question (which never should be asked of a man - it's just so unfair to ask them) "Do I look fat in this?" Is this really your perception or the observer's? It is a no win set up question. But if someone in your life is making you feel less than because you may have put a few lbs make sure that it's something you want to do and not just people please. That, again, is a no win situation. People pleasing will never get you what you want in life.
6) Are you unrealistic about your weight loss goals? I sometimes have clients come in wanting to lose weight quickly or want to be at a healthy weight they were at when they were 19 and now they are 50.If this is the case, you are just setting yourself up for disappointment. Setting realistic and healthy goals is a must. You should never be losing more than 1-3 lbs per week. If you are it is mostly muscle mass which is very unhealthy. Yes, certainly the first week of you will lose more and most of that is water weight but after that stick to a slow and steady weight loss pace. And expect a plateau - that is a natural phenomenon and will easily be remedied by tweaking a few things either in your diet or in your exercise regimen.
7) Are You 3 Feet From Gold? This is really about quitting - quitting just before you arrive. Don't quit - you may be just at the point when you are about to make progress whether it's a plateau or you've lost all the weight you wanted to. Again, after the weight comes off the real work begins. Make sure you have a good maintenance strategy in place. This is the most vulnerable time after you've lost the weight. You may think you are safe and invincible and start eating "the weight gaining foods" - lots of starches, sugars, etc. Your portions sizes may start to increase. Or you may start eating late at night. These habits are so tricky - they seem to re-enter your life when you least expect them to. So prepare yourself and find professional support system.
Most important - remember always Honor Your Body and Yourself and treat yourself like Gold.

Weight Watchers Dieting

When it comes to dieting there are very few organizations that have achieved the lasting success of Weight Watchers. They have been around quite a while and show no signs of stopping. More importantly, their success stories speak volumes for those who join and stick with the program. So what makes this program so successful when many others come and go?

Community

Believe it or not, one of the most important things about Weight Watchers secret to success, so to speak, is the sense of community that is forged between the men and women who are trying to lose weight. There is something humbling and exciting about standing in front of the scale week after week and sharing not only your personal successes and failures but also the failures and successes of others.

Far too often we those who are dieting simply do not have an adequate support system at home. The bonding that is done during the Weight Watchers meeting is a strong bond of men and women who may come from different backgrounds and walks of life but who share a common goal for their futures-weight loss and better health. That is not a bond to be taken lightly particularly when they laugh and cry together. They are in their own way going through the trenches together and the success of this type of program for motivating and encouraging is nothing short of phenomenal.

Evolution

Weight Watchers has a pattern for success but they are not beyond evolving with the needs of the time. While they will be the first to state that the most successful participants typically attend the meetings, Weight Watchers also offers alternatives for those with busy schedules and even those that are simply too afraid to go to the meetings. For these people there is the anonymity of online forums, message boards, and support groups.

Weight Watchers hasn’t limited its evolutionary process to this alone, they’ve also in recent years added a points system that allows dieters participating in their program to more easily gauge how well they are doing by their dietary standards and requirements without needing to count every single calorie or weighing their food. We live in a world of busy people and it is often more hassle than many dieters find to be worth the effort to count every single calorie (particularly when dining out).

The Weight Watchers website is another example of their commitment to evolve and accommodate the diverse needs of the men and women participating in their program. If you haven’t checked it out in a while you really should take a look and see what amazing insights and information they have to offer.

Commitment to Fitness

Weight Watchers knows that it isn’t just diet that gets results. When you combine diet with exercise the results are much more immediate and more profound. The fact that Weight Watchers stresses the importance of exercise and physical fitness in addition to proper nutrition and changing your way of thinking when it comes to food is yet another reason for their widely known success.

Weight Watchers is just one of many different weight loss and dieting programs in the market today. The fact that they have made a name for themselves and stand out above the rest in many ways is nothing to take lightly. It seems that there is a new weight loss program cropping up every other month or so and yet Weight Watchers continues to achieve visible and sustainable results in those who really work the program. Very few programs can make that claim for as long as Weight Watchers has been able to.

When you combine all of the things mentioned above with the pre packaged foods that are offered by Weight Watchers, the extensive recipes that are available for Weight Watcher’s participants, and a solid track record for success you would be robbing yourself of the potential for lasting success if you didn’t at least see what the plan has to offer you
